FCC chairman talks about looming spectrum crisis; allocating that pie in the sky - Peoria, IL - pjstar.com:

"A severe spectrum crunch looms over the next decade because of the popularity of all the devices that have become so common — smartphones, tablets and the rest — and the fact that the new stuff uses up a lot more bandwidth than the old stuff (at least for now).

“So far we’ve been dipping our toes in the water on LTE,” said Julius Genachowski, chairman of the Federal Communications Commission earlier this month.

PC Magazine, by the way, defines LTE as “the latest high-speed cellular data transmission network, surpassing the speeds of the widely used 3G networks.”"
